This ongoing series draws inspiration from the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The artist approaches Dickinson’s writing as a living philosophy, one that speaks across centuries in its quiet clarity and emotional precision. Deeply moved by Dickinson’s ability to distil vast emotional landscapes and philosophical truths, the artist offers a sensitive visual response. A quiet conversation ensues. Themes of solitude, endurance, and transformation, so present in Dickinson’s work, are reflected here through tone, texture, and stillness. The artist is especially drawn to the paradoxes Dickinson returns to; meaning is revealed through absence; strength is often found in solitude; joy through sorrow; peace through loss. The series is shaped by kinship, a felt affinity, it is a meeting across centuries between a poet and an artist.
